Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers

The Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers Section provides the varied educational, service, networking and mentoring opportunities that our law school student and young lawyer members need to grow and develop as attorneys. 

International Law Section

The International Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association was founded in 1976 to serve lawyers in the metropolitan Atlanta area handling international legal matters in a wide variety of areas, including corporate and business transactions, immigration, litigation and arbitration, tax, regulatory and trade matters, bankruptcy, intellectual property and family law.

Bankruptcy Section

The Bankruptcy Section of the Atlanta Bar Association has over 300 members in the metro Atlanta area whose practices involve debt or creditor issues in the consumer or commercial law areas.

Judicial Section

The Judicial Section’s goal is to assist judges in the performance of their judicial responsibilities to the end that the people of Georgia are better served through their judicial branch of government.  

Business & Finance Section

The Business and Finance Section provides various breakfast and CLE programs to its over 500 members with panel talks on securities, M&A transactions, updates in corporate law, and other areas of business and finance transactions.

Labor & Employment Law Section

The Labor and Employment Law Section focuses attention on all areas of labor/management, employee/employer relationship

Construction Section

The Construction Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association consists of over 200 legal professionals involved in the practice of construction law.

Litigation Section

The Litigation Section of the Atlanta Bar Association is the largest section by membership and is comprised of litigators across the spectrum of practices. It includes plaintiff’s lawyers, defense lawyers, mediators and dispute resolution practitioners, as well as judges from several different courts.

Corporate Counsel Section

Formed in 1966 -1967 by Frank F. Fox, the Corporate Counsel Section is comprised of members in both in-house positions and corporate law practice with corporations, associations and law firms.

Privacy & Cybersecurity Law Section

The Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Section seeks to be a resource for those whose clients are directly affected by advances in technology and data law, and those who otherwise are unaware of how the advancement and development of technology and data law will impact their work.

Criminal Law Section

The Criminal Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association is open to all Bar members who have a common interest in criminal law proceedings, including prosecutors and defense counsel, by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas leading to the improvement of individual trial abilities in various areas of criminal law.

Public Interest Law Section

The purpose of the section is to provide an organization open to all who have a common interest in advocacy and enhancement of constitutional, statutory or other rights that protect the dignity, security, justice, liberty, or freedom of the individual or public, and a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas leading to increased knowledge and understanding of the areas of public interest law.

Dispute Resolution Section

The Dispute Resolution Section of the Atlanta Bar Association educates, promotes, and supports a system that provides resolution of disputes outside of the formal judicial system.

Real Estate Section

Our membership is quite diverse, and includes attorneys whose practices involve commercial real estate transactions, residential real estate transactions, environmental issues, foreclosures, the litigation of real estate disputes, and a variety of other issues, including tax, corporate transactions, and international issues.

Elder Law Section

The Elder Law Section has over 100 members from the Metro Atlanta area, each of whom practice in the field of Elder Law as well as a number of related fields.

Sole Practitioner/Small Firm Section

Formed in 1987-1988 by Judge T. Jackson Bedford, Jr. and Robert G. Wellon, the Sole Practitioner/Small Firm Section was one of the first Bar Association Sections in the Country to dedicate programs and benefits for sole practitioners and small firms

Environmental & Toxic Tort Section

The Environmental and Toxic Tort Section is open to any member of the Atlanta Bar practicing or interested in matters relating to environmental laws and laws governing toxic tort litigation

Tax Law Section

The Tax Section keeps its members informed of new tax issues and internal procedures of both the Internal Revenue Service and the Georgia Department of Revenue.

Estate Planning & Probate Section

The Estate Planning & Probate Section provides support for attorneys who practice in the areas of estate planning, probate, guardianships and conservatorships, helps promote and serve the interests of the public and the judiciary, and promotes a high degree of ethics, skill, and professionalism among its members.

Women in the Profession Section

The Women in the Profession Section of the Atlanta Bar is dedicated to furthering the practice and perception of law with a focus on issues unique to women in the practice.

Family Law Section

The Family Law Section, which has 400 members, is very active and strives to keep its members on the cutting edge of the ever-changing dynamics in this area of practice.

Workers' Compensation Section

The Workers’ Compensation Section of the Atlanta Bar Association seeks to inform section members of ongoing developments in the Worker’s Compensation area of law.

Intellectual Property Section

The Intellectual Property Section of the Atlanta Bar was founded in 2007 to provide information and education about intellectual property law to its members and to the community, and to create a forum for networking and relationships among the IP law community.
