Atlanta Bar Programs

Summer Law Internship Program

Since 1993, students have been selected from local high schools throughout metropolitan Atlanta to participate in a six-week internship in local law firms, government agencies and corporations to encourage their interest in higher education and the practice of law. As continuing support for interns who choose to attend law school, the Highest Heights ForeverInitiative was established to provide financial assistance to former Interns taking LSAT preparation classes and/or Bar Review classes.  Thirty-three former interns have attended law school including a current judge and district attorney.

Minority and Diversity Clerkship Program

Established in 1985, the purpose of the M&DCP is to provide diverse and minority law students with the valuable experience of working for a law firm, corporate law department, or judge during the summer following their first year of law school. Clerkships are provided for six to ten weeks during the summer, and students receive the salary paid to other first-year students at the offices where they work. This program was the first of its kind in the country and has been an inspiration for the development of similar programs by other bar associations.
