What is your Section particularly interested in as we make strides to overcome the pandemic?

As we come out of the pandemic our Section members are particularly interested in expanding the breadth of the Section's membership and continuing to grow as much as we can over the next year. The Privacy and Cybersecurity Section was officially founded in September of 2020, less than a year ago, as of the date of this issue. Since then, the Section's leadership has received an overwhelming amount of support and attention from all aspects of the Atlanta Bar Association community, helping to fortify the Section's overall goals and drive to create a robust community.

As we move closer towards the Section's one-year anniversary, we look forward not only to remaining a vibrant and active section, but to expanding our offerings and diversifying the types of section members to include attorneys and advisors from different practice areas, with varying skill levels and experiences overall. "Privacy” and "cybersecurity" as concepts are related, but are very different on a granular level. Further, the level of depth within both concepts is vast, and applies to many different kinds of practitioners within a wide array of industries. It is the Section's immediate goal to appeal to each of these practitioners as a source of value and community, with the overall long-term goal of growing and strengthening the privacy and cybersecurity legal industry in Atlanta as a whole.
