Summer is off to a great start for the Judicial Section.  On June 1, we partnered with the Litigation Section for a service event with Trees Atlanta.  On June 12, we hosted a breakfast with the Gate City Bar Association Judicial Section at which  DeKalb Superior Court Judge Shondeana C. Morris and DeKalb Clerk of State and Magistrate Courts Javoyne Hicks led a discussion about judicial wellness and well-being. On June 19, we hosted a make-your-own-painting social with the Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers (ACYL) at Dip n Dab.

On June 28, our Board held its summer planning meeting and set two main goals for the section this year: (1) to make sure that all judges, no matter their years of service, have the tools and support they need to serve in a sustainable way and (2) to foster productive bar-bench relationships. In addition to continuing our tradition of joint section events, we are piloting a judicial mentoring program to pair more experienced judges with those who more recently joined the bench.  The mentoring focus will be on ethics, professionalism, and wellness.  We welcome the opportunity to partner with other sections for social and service events, and our members are available to speak at section-sponsored CLE events.

Members of the Judicial Section 2019-2020 Board of Directors:  Chair Lillian N. Caudle (Fulton County Magistrate Court); Vice-Chair/Chair Elect Paige Whitaker (Fulton County Superior Court); Secretary/Treasurer Wenona Belton (Fulton County Juvenile Court); Immediate Past Chair Susan Edlein (Fulton County State Court); Members at Large: Yvette Miller (Georgia Court of Appeals); Christopher Portis (Atlanta Municipal Court); Tiffany Carter Sellers; Mike Jacobs (State Court of DeKalb County).
