In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Estate Planning & Probate (“EP&P”) Section continues to offer its members valuable continuing legal education opportunities through monthly CLE webinars focusing on topics ranging from probate law and estate planning, to law firm operation and charitable giving. On October 14, 2020, EP&P Section members welcomed David A. Handler (Kirkland & Ellis, LLP), who presented: “From Here to Eternity: Designing Trusts for the Long Haul.” Handler covered all the basics of trust drafting, then delved into the use of more advanced provisions designed to ease trust administration and deal with problematic fiduciaries or beneficiaries. The EP&P Section Board invite Section members and other Atlanta
Bar Association members to join us for the following upcoming virtual events to close out the year:

  • On November 18, 2020, at 12:00 p.m., Theodore S. Eittreim (Eittreim Martin Cutler, LLC) will discuss “Domestic Relations Pitfalls for Estate Planners.”
  • On December 9, 2020, at 12:00 p.m., Christopher V. Benner (Bennett Thrasher, LLP), will present: “I Made It Over the Wall, Now What? Worldwide Transfer Tax Issues to Consider for New U.S. Residents and Domiciliaries.”

As the public health crisis caused by COVID-19 continues to unfold, the EP&P Section stands ready to offer its members alternatives to in-person gatherings and looks forward to working with the other Sections of the Atlanta Bar Association to offer bar members opportunities for professional development and social interaction. The EP&P Section Board wishes to thank our generous Section Sponsors for their support, as well as the Directors and Staff of the Atlanta Bar Association for their outstanding support and guidance during these uncertain times.
