The Advocacy Champion program provides an opportunity for individuals and organizations to speak up for their communities. No prior experience is needed! Advocacy Champions help tell the story of hungry people in their community. They help educate their leaders on issues related to hunger, food insecurity and poverty.
At the Advocacy Training we will:
Bring you up to date on the status of local and federal food policy.
Brainstorm advocacy strategies.
Build relationships and coalitions.
Practice effective advocacy.
We need Advocacy Champions who can:
Talk passionately about their community.
Take action after we email a request to call, write or visit legislators.
Communicate with legislators soon after committing to an action.
Share feedback on issues and communication.
Inform and inspire legislators.
